A Word From Fr. Tom - 01.28.18

In the first reading from Deuteronomy, we read how Moses addresses an important message to the people of Israel. They should always display a spirit of gratitude to God. He prepares them for life on the other side of the Jordan River. In the second reading from Corinthians, Paul understands the distractions this world presents to us. He urges the Corinthian community to consider carefully how they can best serve the Lord. In today’s Gospel of Mark, we read how Jesus begins his ministry in Capernaum teaching in the Synagogue and then heals a man with an unclean spirit. This is the first miracle in the Gospel of Mark.

Let us reflect on any anxieties, fears, frustrations or distractions that life throws at us each day and spend some quiet time in prayer to help us with those challenges.

This weekend at the 9:30am Mass we officially kick off Catholic Schools Week 2018.We welcome our students, parents, faculty and staff.

There are many wonderful options for schools in our area. St. James Catholic School, part of the North Hills Regional Catholic Elementary School system, offers a quality Catholic education is a safe and loving environment with a 3 and 4 year old preschool program and Kindergarten through eighth grade. We are a great “neighborhood school!” Please call the school office at 412-741-5540 extension 100 for more information or to schedule a tour of the school.
