A Word From Fr. Tom - 02.21.16

This weekend we celebrate the Second Sunday of Lent. All three readings focus on putting our trust in the Lord. When we trust the Lord, our lives can be changed and transfigured. In the First reading from Genesis, we read how the Lord makes a covenant with Abraham. In the Second Reading from Philippians, Paul reminds the Philippian community to be imitators of Christ and stand firm in the Lord. In today’s Gospel of Luke, we read the passage of the Transfiguration, when Jesus goes up to Mount Tabor with Peter, James, and John and he is physically transfigured. To be transfigured means to be transformed. The three Apostles lives were changed forever. Not only did they see the Lord transfigured body, but they heard the voice from heaven “this is my beloved Son, listen to him.”

This weekend is a good time to focus our need to be transformed on the inside. Where can we experience a permanent conversion to the Lord?
