A Word From Fr. Tom - 12.4.16

This weekend we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent. The readings this weekend focus on preparing for the Lord. In the Gospel of Matthew, we are introduced to John the Baptist who is a cousin of Jesus. We will read about John this week and next Sunday because he is a major figure during the Season of Advent and focuses on preparation and repentance. He says “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Prepare the Way of the Lord.”

Advent is a time to renew and deepen our relationship with God. It is a time of prayer. As believers who continue to await Jesus’ Second coming, let us draw hope from these texts and prepare for the Lord.
